HALLIE MATHIA, CNM

Hallie has wanted to be a midwife since she was very young — she has no idea where that pull came from, but as long as she can remember, she’s wanted to be involved in birth work. Prior to beginning on her own path to midwifery, she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Emerson College. She focused her writing and work there on all things birth, including photographing homebirths in Massachusetts as a photojournalist. After graduation, she moved to Connecticut and began her pre-requisite classes for nursing school. She also trained and worked as a birth doula, where she first met the WHA midwives!

After nursing school, she applied and was accepted into Yale School of Nursing’s dual certification program specializing in midwifery and women’s health. During her education, she spent nearly six months training with the WHA midwives, and graduated in 2018. She has since worked in practice in Bridgeport, and is thrilled to be back with WHA! She lives with her son and two cats. In her spare time, she loves reading, playing cards, and mowing her lawn (seriously!).
